Industry Labs 

The Center for the Future of Surgery has partnered with several medical device companies to support various lab events and surgical training.

Medical technology companies and industry partners host labs for product testing and staff and surgeon training. These companies are able to demonstrate the newest technologies and techniques in surgery, as well as the safety and efficacy of products.

Surgical Association Courses

Several surgical associations, both national and international, have held high volume annual courses or meetings at the Center for the Future of Surgery to demonstrate the latest technologies and surgical techniques in the field.  

Team Trainings

CFS hosts training sessions for medical technology and device companies, providing space for sales, marketing, and clinical teams to learn about new products and train new personnel, enabling each team to effectively promote and represent their products in the field.

External Resident Program and Medical Center Trainings

CFS welcomes visiting resident programs from neighboring health and medical centers for hands-on training led by their program faculty, designed to advance surgical skills. Current visiting centers include:

Med Tech Surgeon Trainings

At CFS, MedTech companies welcome surgeons for product education sessions and hands-on device demonstrations, providing exposure to new technologies and opportunities to develop proficiency with the company's equipment and/or product.

Usability Studies

Industry engineers and product teams bring future surgical technologies to CFS, collaborating with frontline users to gather expert feedback that informs product usability and drives advances in surgical care. These labs are supported by the Center’s simulation ORs, providing a fully equipped and immersive environment for hands-on evaluation.

CME Courses

The UC San Diego School of Medicine, Continuing Professional Development (CPD) office provides the professional expertise needed to manage a CPD activity from inception to completion.

UC San Diego CPD is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
