Surgical Critical Care Fellowship Program

UC San Diego offers an ACGME-accredited one-year fellowship in surgical critical care leading to American Board of Surgery Certification.

If desired, second-year options include the American Association of Surgery for Trauma (AAST) certified Acute Care Surgery Fellowship or a Burn Surgery Fellowship. Two spots for the two-year SCC/AAST fellowships are offered annually, and one spot for the one-year SCC fellowship (to which a burn year can be added if desired).

UC San Diego also offers an ACGME-ccredited one-year fellowship in pediatric surgical critical Care leading to American Board of Surgery Certification. There is one spot for a pediatric surgical critical care fellow annually.

Applicant qualifications include:

  1. Completion of approved general surgery residency
  2. California license (or eligibility)
  3. Board eligible or certified by the American Board of Surgery
  4. Established ability as a teacher of medical students and residents
