Plastic Surgery Residents
The Division of Plastic Surgery has two plastic surgery residency programs: the Integrated Plastic Surgery Residency Program and the Independent Plastic Surgery Residency Program.
Integrated plastic surgery programs are six years long and begin directly after medical school. Residents enter as PGY1s and complete rotations in general surgery and other specialties to meet prerequisite training requirements specified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS). The program offers a comprehensive, streamlined pathway to plastic surgery training.
Independent plastic surgery programs are three years long and accept residents who have completed a full general surgery residency or equivalent training in specialties such as otolaryngology, orthopedics or neurosurgery. In some cases, candidates with three or four years of prerequisite general surgery training at the same institution may also qualify if the training meets ABPS requirements.
