Burn Fellowship Program

The Burn Fellowship Program aims to teach the advanced skills, knowledge, and human-touch qualities they need to build the foundation of a successful trauma and burn medicine practice. Since 1973, the UC San Diego Regional Burn Center has been a leader in advances in burn therapy. The professional care of patients is internationally recognized for our skill and knowledge. The state-of-the-art facility has an intensive care unit, a special burn care unit and an outpatient clinic for minor burn assessments and treatment. Over 400 patients are admitted to the center each year with various levels of injury and hundreds more are treated on an outpatient basis.

Applicant qualifications include:

  1. Completion of an approved general surgery residency
  2. California license (or eligibility)
  3. Board eligible or certified by the American Board of Surgery
  4. Established ability as a teacher of medical students and residents
