April 15-16, 2027: DCD in Action Workshop
This multi-day course, including two live webinars, at the UC San Diego Center for the Future of Surgery immerses participants in both theoretical foundations and hands-on DCD and surgical NRP simulations with real-time instruction from pioneers in the field. Learn essential steps in launching and optimizing a successful DCD-NRP program, including logistics, staffing and overcoming institutional barriers. Experience live simulations, case-based discussions, and a lab focused on organ assessment, NRP protocols and multi-organ recovery strategies.
Date TBD: Living Donor Workshop with Nancy Marlin, PhD
“How to Find a Living Donor” is a 90-minute, small-group interactive session that provides education about living kidney donation and, most importantly, actively engages participants in the process required to find a living donor.
The workshop is led by Nancy Marlin, PhD, a polycystic kidney disease (PKD) patient and recipient of a kidney transplant from an unrelated living donor. Having experienced the entire transplant process herself, she is extremely sensitive to the emotional vulnerability of people who are often desperate, frustrated and discouraged about finding a donor. The goal of this program is to move patients beyond their passive confusion or denial and share with them a pathway as to how they can move forward toward transplant.
