George Chiang, MD 

Dr. George Chiang is a board-certified urologist specializing in minimally invasive techniques for surgery in children. In 2009 he became the first pediatric urologist on the West Coast to perform pediatric single-incision laparoscopic nephrectomy. This technique is expected to expedite the use of “scarless” surgery in the pediatric population. His clinical research activity is currently focused on comparing open versus minimally invasive techniques for nephrectomies in children.

Dr. Chiang is also dedicated to improving the quality of life of children with spinal cord abnormalities. As the medical director and primary urologist for the Spinal Defects Clinic at Rady Children’s Hospital San Diego, he has substantially increased reconstructive efforts for patients with spina bifida. Dr. Chiang is a board member of Spina Bifida of San Diego.
